Is this reference real?

Paste your reference list. Each entry is checked against Crossref’s records, so you can spot references invented by AI tools, wrong years and misspelled authors before a reviewer does.

Questions

How does it know if a reference is fake?

Each reference is looked up in Crossref, the registry publishers use to assign DOIs. If no record matches the title or DOI, the reference is flagged as not found. AI chatbots often invent plausible titles that do not exist anywhere.

Does a “real” result mean I can cite it?

It means the paper exists and its details match. It does not mean the paper supports your claim: read it before you cite it.

Which references can it check?

Journal articles, books and conference papers that have a DOI or are registered with Crossref. Very old or grey literature may not be found even if it is real.

Is my text stored?

No. References go from your browser straight to Crossref. Nothing is saved.

Check your whole paper, not just the references.

Arguo checks your argument, methods, results and discussion against each other, and shows how published papers do it. It never writes your text.
